Strategies for Achieving Objectives

The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi shall adopt the following strategies to achieve the stated objectives:

 

  1. Obtain an adequate site, provide the necessary strategic documents (Academic Brief, Master Plan and Law) towards the development of its academic and management frameworks as well as physical infrastructure that guarantees academic excellence;
  2. Create a conducive environment and ensure a well-planned and structured provision of facilities and infrastructure that shall foster academic development of the University;
  3. Constitute a team of administrative and management staff that are committed to the effective take-off and continued success of the University in a cost-effective manner;
  4. Employ competent and qualified staff to teach in all disciplines to be offered by the University with adequate remunerations and attractive welfare packages;
  5. Submit requests for adequate funds, capital and recurrent, to carry out approved academic programmes and for the smooth running of the administrative processes of the university;
  6. Establish and sustain contracts, linkages, affiliations and technical cooperation with various institutions, universities, corporations and organised bodies, both locally and internationally, to enhance the acquisition of technology, academic interactions and exchange of students and staff;
  7.  
  8. Put in place effective and efficient monitoring mechanisms for academic and non-academic programmes of the University to avoid waste of human and material resources as well as to ensure maximum utilisation of such resources;
  9. Implement an active staff training scheme for young graduates who are adjudged excellent in character and learning to form the future pool of dedicated staff for the University;
  10. ensure that students are admitted based on merit without regards to non-academic considerations such as ethnicity, religion and political affiliations;
  11. Introduce entrepreneurial courses into the university curriculum and ensure the production of graduates who shall be self-reliant and employers of labour rather than conventional job seekers;
  12. Institutionalise awards, scholarships, prizes and other incentives to students who excel in learning and character to encourage excellence and hard work;
  13. Focus on research that meets the social, economic and technological needs of Nigeria, Africa and the world;
  14. Promote mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence within the University community and between the university, its host communities and the larger society.
