Dr.(Mrs.) Charity E. Maxwell: A Passionate Educator and Researcher in Library and Information Science

Education and Qualifications
Dr. (Mrs.) Charity E. Maxwell is a highly accomplished Associate Professor with a distinguished academic background in Library and Information Science (LIS) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). She began her academic journey at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she earned a Diploma, a Bachelor’s degree, and a Master’s degree, all in LIS. She further expanded her expertise by obtaining a Ph.D. in LIS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Demonstrating her dedication to continuous learning, Dr. Maxwell holds additional postgraduate diplomas in Education (PGDE) from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, and Computer Science (PGDCS) from Kogi State University, Anyigba.

Professional Experience
Dr. (Mrs.) Maxwell brings a wealth of experience to her role as an Associate Professor. She is currently the Acting Dean of Students Affairs and a lecturer at the Department of Library and Information Technology in the School of Computing and Information Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State. Notably, her experience extends beyond Nigeria, encompassing a position at Kampala International University in Uganda, East Africa.

Throughout her career, Dr. (Mrs.) Maxwell has held diverse roles within the university structure. She has served in the university library, as Head of the E-Library, and as Head of Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) . She has actively participated in various university committees and has served as a JAMB Supervisor and Coordinator.

Research and Expertise
Dr. Maxwell is a passionate researcher with a focus on Users Studies, ICT applications in Libraries, and blended learning. She has published a substantial number of scholarly articles in respected peer-reviewed journals, both internationally and locally. Her dedication to the field is further evidenced by her roles as a reviewer for scholarly publishers and an editor for faculty publications.

Professional Affiliations
Dr. (Mrs.) Maxwell actively contributes to the advancement of her field through her memberships in various professional bodies. These include the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), the Nigerian Library Association Information & Communication Technology Section (NLA-ICT Section), the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (CLN) as a chartered member, the National Association of Library and Information Science Educators (NALISE), Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) – Kogi Chapter, and the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) – Kogi State Chapter. She also maintains affiliations with religious and cultural associations.

The Students Affairs Division (SAD) was established in July 2023, ahead of the arrival of our pioneer students in September 2023. Our goals include:
