The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi, Professor Leo Daniel, has represented the institution at an executive development and knowledge exchange programme in the United Kingdom. Professor Daniel, who is recognised as the first Nigerian Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, joined other Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities for the study tour and leadership training held at King’s College London from 10 to 13 November 2025.



The programme titled Transformative Leadership and Innovation in Higher Education focused on global best practices and strategic partnerships. It was organised by the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities in collaboration with King’s College London which is known worldwide for academic excellence, research leadership and institutional development.
The initiative aimed to strengthen strategic leadership and management in Nigerian universities. It also sought to promote good governance, innovation and collaboration among institutions. Participants explored international models of academic quality assurance, digital advancement and global partnership building.
The programme produced several key outcomes. These included an improvement in leadership capacity, exposure to effective management and academic innovation models, and new opportunities for institutional partnerships. Delegates also gained insights into funding approaches and quality frameworks that place students at the centre of university development.
The event featured a series of high-level activities. Senior executives from King’s College London delivered keynote presentations on global trends in educational leadership and institutional transformation. Participants took part in interactive panel discussions with leaders from United Kingdom universities on governance, research excellence and international cooperation. Guided tours of academic and research facilities offered insight into modern infrastructure and digital learning practices.
Networking sessions also provided Vice Chancellors with opportunities to strengthen relationships, share experiences, and explore possible collaborations in research and staff or student exchange.
