FUTIA VC BAGS ‘TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION AWARD’

The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Prof. Leo Daniel has been honoured with a ‘Technology and Innovation Award’ by the Association of Heads of Federal Establishments, Akwa Ibom State.

The Award was presented to the University don during the End-Of-Year Party, Awards Ceremony and 2025 Calendar Launch of the Association held on Thursday, 12th December 2024 at BreakFort Hotel & Suites, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.

According to the Association, the Award was presented to the FUTIA Vice Chancellor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to advancing technology and fostering innovation in Akwa Ibom State and beyond. The Award was presented to the FUTIA VC by the Head of Civil Service of Akwa Ibom State, Elder Effiong Essien on behalf of the Association.

The Vice Chancellor who was represented at the event by the University Registrar, Offiongita E. Nkang (Mrs) expressed appreciation to the leadership and the entire members of the Association for finding him worthy for the Honour.

Prof. Leo Daniel who is a Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics used the occasion to pledge his commitment and that of the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi to support the lofty programmes of the Association.

Earlier in his tone setting, the Chairman, Association of Heads of Federal Establishments, Akwa Ibom State, Dr Uduak Obot expressed appreciation to the Special Guest, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D. the Chairman on the occasion and Heads of Federal Establishments in Akwa Ibom State as well as members of the Association for their supports and participation at the event. The Chairman who was represented by Dr Kenneth Uchua stressed that the event was organized to bring Heads and Staff of Federal Establishments in the State to a roundtable with a view to refreshing, reviewing and appreciating them for significantly contributing towards national development as well as for a successful year 2024 at their respective Agencies.

The event which was chaired by the Head of Civil Service of Akwa Ibom State, Elder Effiong Essien, featured presentation of Awards to other deserving Heads of Federal Agencies, Unveiling/Launching of 2025 Calendar and Debut Album of the Association, Cutting of Unity Cake as well as presentation of gifts to retired members of the Association amongst others.

The occasion equally featured Lecture Presentation on the theme: “Strengthening Public Service through Collaboration and Strategic Leadership” and was eruditely delivered by a Professor of Economics and Member of the Governing Council of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, Prof. Christopher Ekong

Others in attendance were Heads and Staff of Federal Ministries, Institutions, Agencies, Parastatals and Directorates in Akwa Ibom State and their representatives.
