The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi(FUTIA), Akwa Ibom State, Professor Leo Daniel has been honoured with an “Award for Excellence in Leadership” by the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State



The Award was presented to the University don as part of activities of the ongoing 12th Annual National Conference on Education by the University themed: “Bridging Educational Gaps through Digital Technology” held on Wednesday, 8th October 2025 at Onyema Ugochukwu Auditorium, University of Uyo, Town Campus, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
According to the Faculty, the Award is presented to the FUTIA Vice Chancellor in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the growth of the University system and education in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and beyond.
The Award was presented to the FUTIA VC by the Chairman, Committee of Deans, University of Uyo, Prof. Eduwem on behalf of the Faculty.
The FUTIA Vice Chancellor who was represented at the event by the University Librarian, Prof. Philip Akor expressed appreciation to the Dean of the Faculty and the entire Planning Committee of the National Conference for finding him worthy for the Honour.
Prof. Leo Daniel who is the first Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Nigeria used the occasion to pledge his commitment and that of the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi to continue to promote the advancement of academic excellence towards community and national development.
An address was presented by the Chief Host and Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo, Prof. Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo and it featured Keynote Address, Lead paper Presentation and Unveiling of the 2025 Faculty Journal among others.
The Conference was well attended by scholars and participants within and outside the Faculty and the University community.
