The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Prof. Leo Daniel has joined other critical stakeholders in the education sector to felicitate the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor/Chairman and Members of the Governing Council, the Vice Chancellor, Management, Staff and Students of the University of Uyo on the successful hosting of their combined 29th & 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the University climaxed on Saturday 9th November, 2024 at the 1000 Seater Capacity, TETFund Auditorium Main Campus, Nwaniba Road Uyo.
The Vice Chancellor in his Goodwill Message presented at the Ceremony on behalf of the Management, Staff and Students of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) congratulated the Vice Chancellor and the entire University of Uyo Community on the academic milestone which he said stands as a beacon of the University’s enduring legacy of academic distinction and impactful contributions to the society.
Prof. Daniel who is a Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics added that the Convocation Ceremony represents a culmination of tireless dedication, rigorous scholarship and the nurturing of young minds, for which the University of Uyo is renowned.
The University don extolled the exemplary leadership of the Institution stressing that the University has continued to flourish as a hub of intellectual rigor, innovation, and community service, inspiring confidence in its capacity to produce graduates who excel in various fields of endeavor and contribute meaningfully to national and global development.
“As the University of Uyo celebrates this dual milestone, we wish to commend your efforts in sustaining and enhancing the academic and infrastructural growth of the institution. We believe that this Convocation will serve as a reminder of the immense potential of higher education to transform lives and communities. As a sister Federal Institution, the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) is committed to crossbreeding of ideas, research, faculty exchange amongst others towards national development”, Prof. Leo Daniel added.
The FUTIA Vice Chancellor particularly used the occasion to congratulate the Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D. on his successful completion and the conferment with a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science by the University of Uyo as well as rejoiced with all the categories of graduands on their Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees, Higher Degrees, Post Graduate Diplomas, First Degrees, Award of Diplomas, Certificates, Prizes, & Investiture of Emeritus and Distinguished Professors of the University held from 7th to 9th November, 2024.
A grand total of Twelve Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty (12,450) graduated at the combined (29th and 30th) Convocation Ceremony.
The Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Offiongita E. Nkang (Mrs) along with other FUTIA staff were also in attendance at the Convocation Ceremony to register academic solidarity.
