FG LAUNCHES TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS GOVERNANCE AND TRANSPARENCY PLATFORM (FTIGTP): A LANDMARK IN ACCOUNTABILITY, DATA-DRIVEN POLICY, AND EDUCATIONAL REFORM
The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria, has launched the Federal Tertiary Institutions Governance and Transparency Platform (FTIGTP)—a major step toward strengthening accountability, transparency, and data-driven governance across Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
In a release signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, the Honourable Minister of Education, Chief Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, FAMedS, CON, who presided over the launch is quoted as describing the initiative as a milestone in modernising higher education management and rebuilding public trust. He explained that the FTIGTP serves as a unified national platform providing real-time data on enrolment, funding, grants, and performance indicators for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.]


Dr. Alausa emphasised that the platform is a reform tool that promotes transparency, efficiency, and performance-based funding. He stated that future government interventions will be tied to compliance and accountability metrics.
The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmed, described the initiative as central to the Ministry’s digital transformation agenda, while the Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka, commended it as visionary and research-driven.
Representatives of Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts expressed full support, pledging collaboration to ensure sustainability. The platform, demonstrated by the @Nigerian Education Data Initiative(NEDI), is accessible at transparency.education.gov.ng.
The FTIGTP launch reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to accountability, innovation, and excellence in Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
The event held on Tuesday, 4th November, 2025 at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Abuja was equally attended by the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi(FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel represented by the University Bursar, Dr Mbobo Erasmus.
