BRIEF PROFILE OF PROFESSOR ISAAC A. AYANDELE

Professor Isaac Ayanyinka Ayandele is a renowned and distinguished academic in the field of Business Management, specializing in Operations Research and Strategic Management. He was born in the 60s in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State. Below are some key highlights from his academic and Professional background:

Ph.D – Management (Specializes in Operations Research – Decision Science

  • Institutional Affiliation: Prof. Isaac Ayandele was the Pioneer Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences and the former Chairman, Committee of Deans of University of Uyo. He has served as Chairman and member of several committees within and outside the University. He is the 93rd Inaugural Lecturer of University of Uyo. The Directorate of Academic Planning of Federal University of Technology , Ikot Abasi, Nigeria was established in the year 2024, as a unit in the office of the Vice- Chancellor ,with Professor Felicia Edu-uwem Etim as the Pioneer Director. She assumed office on the 2nd of May 2024.The main purpose of the Directorate is to review the curricula of the pioneer programmes of the new university in compliance with contemporary NUC standards and regulations . The Directorate is also expected to coordinate the expansion of the university academic programmes. The unit serves as a quality control organ of the university. One of the main responsibilities is obtaining up-to-date , relevant and accurate data for processing , analysis and guidance for timely decision-making by the University management.

  1. To prepare and periodic revise the academic brief of the University.
  2. To guide and monitor the University’s academic activities in accordance with the statutory goals, vision and mission of the University.
  3. To liaise with NUC on matters patterning to academic standards and accreditation.
  4. To maintain Quality Assurance in the University
  5. To prepare and document the statistical data of students admission and enrolment projections at different levels.
  6. To document staff and students’ data for NUC and other government agencies.
  7. To carry out continuous evaluation of the performance of academic programmes, rationalisation of courses and de-merger/merger of academic units and programmes.
  8. Appraisal and processing of requests for affiliation from other tertiary institutions.
  9. Sourcing for linkages for institutional advancement and collaborations with other Universities , Government agencies and organisations for Human Resource Capacity building and knowledge transfer.
  10. Discharge  any other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

Academic Standards and  Evaluation (ASE)

Functions

  1. Conduct periodic needs assessment for the establishment of new academic programmes.
  2. Ensure compliance with the due process for the establishment of new programmes, as well as splitting and merger of academic programmes in the university.
  3. Supervise the development of curricula of new academic programmes for the university in compliance with NUC standards.
  4. Conduct mock – inspections preparatory for NUC resources verification for new academic programmes and NUC accreditation of existing programmes.
  5. Ensure the university compliance with current NUC standards – BMAS OR CCMAS
  6. Plan the academic programmes of the University in conformity with its academic brief and strategic plan
  7. Preparation of Academic calendar for the University and ensure its implementation.
  8. Any other assignment that may be given by the Director of Academic Planning.

 

Data Documentation and Management (DDM)

Functions

1. Collection, Documentation and Analysis of data from relevant units and departments of the University.

Provision of a database of information on various aspects of the university operations.

3. Collection of relevant data on the changing trends in the university activities eg. Enrolment, staff mix, staff qualifications and status, staff training etc for Institutional-based research.

4.Collection and storage of statistical publications from other universities.

5. Provision of periodic statistics to Federal Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission, Private Sector Organisations and Individual Researcher on demand.
5. Projection of students ‘enrolment figures and corresponding staff strength.

7.Collation and Analysis of staff/students evaluation data.

Any other assignment that may be given by the Director of Academic Planning.

 

Quality Assurance and Monitoring (QAM)

Functions

  1. Develop and implement a quality assurance system for continuous monitoring and evaluation for the university’s quality service delivery.
  2. Formulate quality assurance policy guidelines for the university.
  3. Develop instruments and processes for monitoring institutional operations of the university.
  4. Develop quality standards set for the university’s programmes, courses, operations and delivery of services measured against NUC AND international benchmarks.
  5. Build capacity for quality assurance within the university through regular sensitisation seminars to promote an understanding of the process.
  6. Promote a culture of research and innovation with emerging technologies
  7. Monitor, guide and provide advice on QA activities to all sections of the university.
  8. Any other assignment that may be given by the Director of Academic Planning.

 

STRATEGIC AND ACTION PLANNING (SAP)

Functions

1. Identify strategic initiatives within the context of the vision and mission statement of the university.

2.Complie corporate strategic plan and action plan document for the university.

3. Monitor the implementation of the Corporate plan , Strategic plan and Action plan regularly’.

4.Identify operational strategic priorities and develop goals to achieve the set targets .

5. Identify key institutional performance indicators and evaluate for periodic performance report using situation analysis (PEEST and SWOT)

6. Compile and analyse data for the Organisational Results Framework (ORF).

7.Identify challenges and operational values of the university.

8. Any other assignment that may be given by the Director of Academic Planning.
