The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi(FUTIA), Prof. Leo Daniel has tasked staff of the Institution to take advantage of the abundance learning and teaching tools provided by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance academic excellence.

The University don gave the task while declaring open a one day Physical Training/Technical Support on the Usage of Anthology Inc Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System at the University Lecture Theatre on Thursday, 10th October 2024.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented by the University Librarian, Prof. Philip Akor commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFund for their huge investment in the education sector of the country. He stressed the need for the concerned faculties and staff of the Directorate of Academic Planning of the University to acquaint themselves with the knowledge and skills needed in the application of ICT tools and techniques in preparation for the transition to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) era.
Later in his remarks, the Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology of the Institution, Dr Abasiama Akpan commended the management and TETFund for approving and sponsoring the hosting of the Training and Technical Support pledging the commitment of the Directorate to ensure implementation of all the components of the Anthology Inc Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System. He described the ICT tool as additional learning facilities for members of the Faculty and Directorate of Academic Planning to explore its advantages. A Blackboard Profile and Account was later created with its components for optimal utilization by the University.
The Programme which is part of the initiative of FUTIA’s Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and moderated by one of the TETFUND Technical Partners; POLE GLOBAL MARKETING (PGM).
In attendance were Provosts, Heads of Departments, staff of Directorate of Academic Planning, Course Lecturers, Faculties, Academic Affairs Unit among others
