The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi – FUTIA, Akwa Ibom State is among the Tertiary Institutions in the Country that attended the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions and the 5th Edition (2023 and 2024) of National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP-M) held at the African Hall, Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The high impact event was co-hosted by the Nigeria Education Loan Fund-Nelfund Nigeria and had in attendance Vice Chancellors , Rectors, Provosts, Registrars, Admission Officers from various Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Monotechnics.
Earlier in his speech, the Honourable Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria, Dr Tunji Alausa who declared the event open announced the admissible age into Tertiary Institutions as 16 years on behalf of the Federal Government.
After a unanimous vote by the Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions, the National Cut-Off point(s) for admission of students into various Institutions in the forthcoming 2025/2026 Academic Year has been fixed at 150 for Universities, 100 for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education respectively as well as 140 for Colleges of Nursing Sciences as adopted by stakeholders.
The Education Minister however reiterated that all Admissions must be done on JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS); reinforcing Federal Government’s commitments to institutionalizing policies that will improve standards and quality of education in the country.
The FUTIA Vice Chancellor, Prof. Leo Daniel led the University Registrar, Offiongita Nkang(Mrs) and the University Admissions Officer, Edidiong Ukpong to the strategic event held on Tuesday, 8th July, 2025.
The Akwa Ibom State JAMB Coordinator, Mrs Grace Olima-Williams was also in attendance.
The event also featured presentation of Awards and Prizes to deserving Federal Universities, polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Innovation Enterprise Institutions at the 5th Edition (2023 and 2024) of National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NATAP-M) for the combined Admission Years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025.
